angels.jpg Angels In My Path
An Inspiring Story of Recovery and Redemption

by Debra Allenbaugh

Debra Allenbaugh’s story is both like and unlike that of millions of others. After decades of perfectly “normal” life, running a business and raising a family, she descended abruptly into the deepest pit of addiction – in her case, alcoholism. Ultimately, she lost everything, including herself.

Thanks to a miraculous chance encounter with a stranger, and acts of kindness from him and other “angels in her path” she was able to somehow find the strength to re-establish her life as a mother, grandmother, and productive member of society.

In Angels In My Path, Debra candidly shares her journey – the good, the bad, the failure and ultimate victory – in hopes of inspiring those who have also suffered from sexual molestation and addiction to believe in themselves and realize their immense self-worth and value regardless of their past or present circumstances.

unbroken.jpg Unbroken Spirit

by Gilbert John

In 1957, Gilbert John was born to the Navajo People in Gallup, New Mexico. His childhood was compelling enough. His family struggled to scratch a living out of the arid land while Gilbert struggled to find his own identity somewhere between the ancient traditions of his grandfather and the unfamiliar and overbearing standards of his white schoolteachers. But a tragic accident at the age of 17 left Gilbert a quadriplegic and changed the tenor of his life forever. Gilbert's life has produced an inspiring story about the human ability to overcome tremendous odds, and about the importance of never accepting others' limited estimations of your potential.

dateline.jpg Dateline History
The Life of Journalist Jonathan Marshall

An Authobiography

"The remarkable life story of a kid from the sidewalks of New York who grew up to become a crusading liberal Arizona newspaper publisher, First Amendment champion, and a leading citizen of that frontier state. Jon Marshall calls his life 'a bouillabaisse.' I call it a fascinating, 'only in America' experience; a life to be proud of, ranging from winning an impromptu sailboat race against the venerable Albert Einstein to losing a 'clean' Senate race against his ultra-conservative friend Barry Goldwater."
—Lawrence K. Grossman, former president of NBC News and PBS

"Jon Marshall has written a fascinating and very personal account of his life and times as a privileged young man in a family with extremely talented and civic-minded folks. His account of liberals settling among very conservative communities in the West, and how he maintained his liberal and Jewish roots is inspiring. A good read with many pointers for others to follow a creative and satisfying life."
—Arthur A. Hartman, former US Ambassador to France and the Soviet Union

40years.jpg Forty Years behind the Iron Curtain

Günther Schulze,
As told to Inge Myrick

Günther Schulze is Inge Myrick's younger brother, and his story, like hers, is of an individual swept along by the terrifying and incomprehensible forces of History. Günther tells of a troubled adolescence in the 1930s and 40s as the war tore his family apart, and of his time in the German army and as a prisoner of war. Then, in the story's second act, a new colder tragedy takes place, as Günther struggles to make a life for himself and his family in a society that claims to be of the proletariat yet seems to have completely forgotten the people. This fascinating life story weaves itself through the tumult and chaos of our most recently completed century.

Inge Myrick includes her own memories of her return visits to East Germany in 1968 and 1988, providing an insightful new conclusion to the story she told so memorably in The Other Side: The Life Journey of a Young Girl Through Nazi Germany.

othersiden.jpg The Other Side
The Life Journey of a Young Girl through Nazi Germany

by Inge Myrick

Now in its second edition, this memoir captures a young woman’s coming of age in Nazi Germany. Inge’s family tried to isolate itself from Hitler’s destructive policies, but the young girl who presented flowers to the visiting Fuhrer in 1935 and the young woman who nursed wounded soldiers in 1943 could not escape the devastating effects of the war and Nazism. After the war, Inge resolved to escape East Germany for Western Europe and the promise of freedom. This portrait of life during wartime, seen through the eyes of an adolescent girl, speaks profoundly to the cost of conflict on all people. Inge's is a story of endurance and hope, of being caught in the flood of history, but managing to swim to safety.
